The Irish Undergraduate Awards (UA) is an academic awards programme open to undergraduate, i.e. Bachelor level, students. It aims to celebrate and support the world’s brightest and most innovative undergraduate students by recognizing their best coursework and projects. The awards programme is open to Bachelor students in their final or penultimate (next to last) year of studies. The winners are given the opportunity to network and receive international recognition for their academic achievements.

Eligibility Criteria

In order for you to enter the competition you have to fill the basic requirements listed below:

  • You must be a penultimate or final year undergraduate student, i.e. Bachelor level student, or you completed your Bachelor's degree last year.
  • You have received the highest grade possible (5) for your coursework (extensive essay, Bachelor’s thesis or project).
  • The coursework is written in English. If the essay/thesis/project is written in another language than English it has to be translated into English.

How do I submit my work?

  • Start by carefully reading the instructions available on the Undergraduate Awards website.
  • The entry is submitted online through an electronic form available on the website mentioned above. Please note that the word count is limited and that you have to write a 100-300 word abstract on the coursework you are submitting.
  • The submitted coursework is assessed by an international panel.
  • Winners are brought to Ireland for a three-day summit and all winners are published in the Undergraduate Journal, which is circulated to university libraries worldwide. The award is not a monetary prize.
