Travel grants for doctoral students
The University of Helsinki awards travel grants for doctoral students to support scientific travel both in Finland and abroad.
Dissertation completion grant
The dissertation completion grant is intended for the work required on a dissertation manuscript before it is submitted for preliminary examination.
Employed by the University
As a doctoral student, you have a variety of opportunities to find employment at the University and finance your doctoral studies through it:
Grant-funded doctoral studies
The status of grant-funded doctoral students depends on their discipline. Science students, for example, often work in research groups that provide work facilities, tools and other resources for all group members.
Self-funded doctoral studies
Doctoral studies can be funded in various ways: students may be appointed to paid doctoral student positions, receive a grant or finance their studies partially or fully by working while studying.
